The choice comes down to carbon content and mechanical loading at high temperatures. While 310S (low carbon) is excellent for weldability and preventing embrittlement, 310H enforces a minimum carbon content of 0.04% up to 0.10%. This carbon intentionally reinforces the grain boundaries of the steel, significantly increasing its resistance to high-temperature creep (deformation under mechanical stress) at temperatures above 538°C (1000°F).
EN 1.4951 is the specific European standard designation for heat-resisting, high-carbon 25Cr-20Ni austenitic stainless steel. It is the direct equivalent to the ASTM UNS S31009 specification. Our MTC confirms that the chemistry and mechanical properties documented satisfy the strict intersecting requirements of both global standards.
Because the MTC guarantees superior creep properties and a highly stable austenitic structure under stress, 310H fasteners are primarily utilized in severe thermal environments where mechanical loading is constant. Common applications include power generation facilities, petroleum refining fluid catalytic cracking units (FCCUs), furnace hardware, radiant tubes, and high-temperature rotary kilns.
