Technical FAQs — Aluminium 5052 MTC Certificate

Why is Aluminium 5052 considered "Marine Grade"?

Aluminium 5052 contains primarily Magnesium (up to 2.80%) and Chromium as alloying elements. This specific chemistry makes it highly resistant to corrosion, especially in saltwater and marine atmospheres. It prevents the rapid oxidation and pitting that occurs in standard or high-copper aluminium alloys when exposed to harsh environments.

What does the H32 temper signify on this certificate?

Aluminium 5052 cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. Instead, it is strengthened by cold working (strain hardening). The "H32" designation means the material has been strain-hardened to a quarter-hard state and then thermally stabilized. This stabilization process ensures the mechanical properties remain consistent over time without spontaneous age-softening.

Are the materials free from radioactive contamination?

Yes, the document strictly states that the material is free from radioactive contamination and undergoes a 100% visual inspection to ensure it is free from defects.
