What's Inside This Titanium Grade 9 MTC Certificate

This sample mill test certificate mirrors the rigorous QA documentation package standard for Titanium Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V) fasteners. Often described as the "bridge" between Commercially Pure (CP) titanium and the ultra-high-strength Grade 5, Grade 9 is prized for its high strength, excellent fatigue resistance, and cold-formability.

  • Full Traceability: Certified with TC No.: S74/26-XX and corresponding ASTM B348/B863 specifications for titanium alloy rod and wire.
  • Alpha-Beta Semi-Alloyed Chemistry: Detailed breakdowns verifying the moderate 3% Aluminum (alpha stabilizer) and 2.5% Vanadium (beta stabilizer) alloying. This chemistry provides a significantly higher tensile strength than CP grades while remaining easily cold-formable.
  • Fatigue & Ductility Balance: Explicit verification of tightly controlled interstitial elements to ensure the fasteners possess both the strength needed for high-pressure hydraulic tubing systems and the ductility required for advanced fastening applications.
  • Mechanical Properties (Annealed): Comprehensive reporting of Tensile Strength (625.50 MPa), Yield Strength (485.20 MPa), Elongation (20.50%), and Hardness (220 HB), demonstrating excellent structural performance.
  • Quality Compliance: 100% visual inspection carried out and verified free from defects and radioactive contamination.

Technical FAQs — Titanium Grade 9 MTC Certificate

How does Grade 9 bridge the gap between CP and Grade 5 Titanium?

Titanium Grade 9 (Ti-3Al-2.5V) is effectively a middle ground. Commercially Pure (CP) grades provide corrosion resistance but lack the mechanical strength for highly stressed fasteners. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is extremely strong but can be difficult to cold-form. Grade 9 provides the high strength required for structural applications and high-pressure hydraulic lines while remaining significantly easier to cold-form and fabricate than Grade 5.

Why is Grade 9 so popular for high-pressure tubing and fasteners?

Grade 9's specific chemistry provides a perfect "sweet spot" of moderate alloy content, offering higher tensile and yield strength than CP grades, excellent fatigue resistance under cyclic loads, and the ability to be welded successfully without the embrittlement risks associated with higher-alloyed titanium grades in some environments.

Are the materials free from radioactive contamination?

Yes, the document strictly states that the material is free from radioactive contamination and undergoes a 100% visual inspection to ensure it is free from defects.
