Why choose Aluminium 5083 over 5052?

While both are excellent marine-grade alloys, Aluminium 5083 has a significantly higher Magnesium content (up to 4.90%) compared to 5052. This chemistry makes 5083 the strongest of the non-heat treatable aluminum alloys. It is specifically preferred for highly stressed structural applications like pressure vessels, cryogenic equipment, and shipbuilding where 5052 might lack sufficient tensile strength.
