What's Inside This Titanium Grade 3 MTC Certificate

This sample mill test certificate mirrors the rigorous QA documentation package standard for the strongest of the Commercially Pure (CP) titanium grades. Grade 3 fasteners are optimized for applications where higher mechanical strength is required than Grade 2, but where the excellent corrosion resistance of CP titanium is still essential.

  • Full Traceability: Certified with TC No.: S74/26-XX and corresponding ASTM B348 specifications for Commercially Pure (CP) Titanium rod and bar.
  • Medium-Strength CP Titanium: Detailed breakdowns verifying the specific Oxygen (0.30% max) and Iron (0.30% max) content, which provide the increased tensile and yield strength that sets Grade 3 apart from the softer Grade 1 and Grade 2.
  • Corrosion Immunity: Confirms the metallurgy required to maintain a highly stable, continuous, and protective oxide film, rendering it virtually immune to attack in seawater, wet chlorine, and organic acids.
  • Mechanical Properties (Annealed): Comprehensive reporting of Tensile Strength (520.50 MPa), Yield Strength (415.20 MPa), Elongation (20.50%), and Hardness (185 HB), demonstrating an ideal balance of medium-high strength and sufficient ductility for fastener heading.
  • Quality Compliance: 100% visual inspection carried out and verified free from defects and radioactive contamination.

Technical FAQs — Titanium Grade 3 MTC Certificate

How does Titanium Grade 3 fit into the CP Titanium family?

Titanium grades are classified based on their oxygen and iron content, which determine their strength. Grade 1 is the softest and most ductile. Grade 2 is the standard, balanced grade. Grade 3 is the strongest of the Commercially Pure (CP) grades. It offers superior mechanical strength to Grade 2, yet retains all the corrosion resistance and formability required for industrial applications.

Why are Oxygen (O) and Iron (Fe) higher in Grade 3 than in Grade 2?

In unalloyed titanium, Oxygen and Iron act as solid-solution strengtheners. By allowing slightly higher maximum limits (0.30% for Oxygen and 0.30% for Iron in Grade 3 vs. 0.25% and 0.30% in Grade 2), the material naturally achieves higher tensile and yield strength. This MTC confirms the chemical limits required to ensure the fastener meets the Grade 3 mechanical performance profile.

Are the materials free from radioactive contamination?

Yes, the document strictly states that the material is free from radioactive contamination and undergoes a 100% visual inspection to ensure it is free from defects.
