■ Reducing Environments & Acid Production Applications
Crucial Engineering Note: Hastelloy B2 Fasteners have poor corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments. They should strictly not be used where oxidizing media (such as cupric or ferric salts) are present, as these cause rapid premature failure.
- Acid Production: Fasteners for piping, valves, and reactors handling pure hydrochloric acid at all concentrations and temperatures up to the boiling point.
- Chemical Synthesis: Equipment utilized in the production of acetic acid, acetic anhydride, and ethylbenzene.
