We confirm that above mentioned Items was Manufactured, Sampled, Tested and Inspected in accordance with the subjected Customer's Purchase Order and as applicable Drawings, Material Specifications, Codes & Standards and the results of the items have been determined to meet the users' requirements.
While both are strain-hardened 316 stainless steel, standard Class 2 experiences a significant drop in yield strength for diameters larger than 3/4" (dropping from 95 ksi down to 50 ksi at larger sizes). Class 2B (B8M2) is specially processed to maintain a high minimum yield strength (75 ksi / 515 MPa) uniformly for larger diameters up to 2 inches (M48), making it superior for heavy-duty structural and pressure vessel bolting.
After the initial carbide solution treatment (annealing), the fasteners are mechanically worked (cold drawn or rolled) at room temperature. This cold working process, known as strain hardening, drastically increases the tensile and yield strength of the austenitic stainless steel compared to its softer, annealed state (Class 1).
Yes, the MTC document strictly states that the material has been verified as free from radioactive contamination and has undergone a 100% visual inspection to ensure it is completely free from manufacturing defects before dispatch.
