The chemistry section shows a maximum Carbon content below 0.030% (the "L" requirement), while the mechanical properties meet the higher tensile and yield strength requirements of standard 304. This means the fasteners are "Dual Certified," offering both the structural integrity of 304 and the superior weldability and resistance to carbide precipitation characteristic of 304L.
The primary difference, as visible in the chemistry table, is the absence of Molybdenum in Alloy Group 1. While Group 2 (316) contains Molybdenum for enhanced chloride resistance, Group 1 (304) relies on its 18% Chromium and 8% Nickel composition. It is the ideal, cost-effective choice for general atmospheric corrosion, food processing, and architectural applications where extreme chloride exposure is not a concern.
ASTM F593 bolts are commonly supplied in Condition CW (Cold Worked). Unlike fully annealed condition (Condition A), the cold working process increases the mechanical strength of the bolts, allowing them to achieve the higher minimum tensile (655 MPa) and yield (450 MPa) strengths documented in the mechanical properties table.
