Grade 430 is a "ferritic" plain chromium stainless steel. Because it contains virtually no nickel (as verified in the MTC chemistry block), it is often a more cost-effective alternative to Grade 304. While its overall corrosion resistance is slightly lower than 304, Grade 430 offers excellent resistance to nitric acid and is highly resistant to chloride stress corrosion cracking, making it ideal for mild indoor environments, architectural trim, and specific chemical applications.
