What's Inside This Titanium Grade 5 MTC Certificate

This sample mill test certificate mirrors the rigorous QA documentation package standard for the "workhorse" of the titanium alloy industry. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) fasteners offer an incredible strength-to-weight ratio and are utilized in the most demanding aerospace, medical, and motorsport applications.

  • Full Traceability: Certified with TC No.: S74/26-XX and corresponding ASTM B348 specifications for titanium alloy rod and bar.
  • Alpha-Beta Alloy Chemistry: Detailed breakdowns verifying the ~6% Aluminum (alpha stabilizer) and ~4% Vanadium (beta stabilizer). This exact metallurgy allows the material to be heat-treatable for high strength while retaining excellent corrosion resistance.
  • Exceptional Strength: Verification of mechanical properties that far exceed Commercially Pure (CP) titanium, providing yield strengths over 828 MPa while weighing nearly half as much as steel.
  • Mechanical Properties (Annealed): Comprehensive reporting of Tensile Strength (950.50 MPa), Yield Strength (880.20 MPa), Elongation (14.50%), and Hardness (32 HRC), demonstrating immense structural capacity.
  • Quality Compliance: 100% visual inspection carried out and verified free from defects and radioactive contamination.

Technical FAQs — Titanium Grade 5 MTC Certificate

Why use Titanium Grade 5 instead of Grade 2?

While Grade 2 is commercially pure and offers excellent corrosion resistance, it lacks high mechanical strength. Grade 5 (Ti-6Al-4V) is heavily alloyed with Aluminum and Vanadium, giving it a tensile strength that is nearly double that of Grade 2. Grade 5 is required for aerospace structural components, engine parts, and high-stress fasteners where weight saving and extreme strength are critical.

What do Aluminum and Vanadium do in this alloy?

Titanium exists in two crystallographic forms: alpha and beta. In Ti-6Al-4V, Aluminum (~6%) acts as an alpha-phase stabilizer, increasing the alloy's strength at high temperatures. Vanadium (~4%) acts as a beta-phase stabilizer, improving ductility and allowing the material to be heat treated. Together, they create an alpha-beta alloy with a phenomenal strength-to-weight ratio.

Are the materials free from radioactive contamination?

Yes, the document strictly states that the material is free from radioactive contamination and undergoes a 100% visual inspection to ensure it is free from defects.
