Type 904L of A276 by ASTM is a specification of stainless steel bars and shapes offering exceptional corrosion resistance and high strength in extremely harsh and aggressive environments. This composition provides an excellent resistance to corrosion, particularly acid corrosion such as one from sulfuric and phosphoric acids and chloride-induced pitting and crevice corrosion. Further improvement in resistance to sulfuric acid by the presence of copper makes it highly useful for acidic environments applications.
